I haven’t bought white Rioja since the nineties because the ones I tried were awful. However, Lopez De Haro 2016 is a gorgeously rounded, smooth white wine. I purchased it on the advice of Ian, at Majestic, Poole. As I spend so much of my ‘wine time’ thinking about matching food and wine, I drew a blank when I began to look for easy drinking whites to enjoy on their own. Lopez De Haro 2016 White Rioja was very enjoyable, everyone loved it. I didn’t intend to write about it and so didn’t make lots of notes but when the bottle was finished I wanted to share it with you. As well as being a complete star as an aperitif it also stood up to homemade quiche, new potatoes and salad.
